WiMax - What are the benefits?

WiMAX and AirMAX are our latest services - providing super fast broadband access, with quality suitable for VOIP Voice Calls (Skype/Blueface/ etc). This makes lightning fast broadband and free or very low cost telephone calls a reality - that means better download and upload speeds, and massive cost savings (you can ditch your phone line!). Many of our customers have already moved to our WiMAX service and use this service for both their broadband and voice calls using their preferred internet telephony provider.

Wireless Broadband - What is it?
Wireless broadband is high-speed broadband transmitted from an antenna (access point) by radio wave to a small receiving dish on your home or business. This connects your computer to the internet with an always-on connection at lightning fast speeds - allowing you to surf the web, watch online movies, listen to streaming music and radio, download large files, movies, shop online, (or even work) with almost instantaneous connections and no delays. If you've only been using dial-up speeds of typically 55kbps, or ISDN (so called 'high-speed) of 128/256kbps, our 1mb or 2mb Broadband will entirely change your browsing experience - with speeds of up to 20-40 times dial-up!

You can even use the web to easily make free or very cheap long-distance video and audio calls to your friends and relatives in Ireland, the UK, USA, Australia or anywhere, using VOIP (Voice over IP) technology with free programmes like Skype and Blueface being very popular!

broadband routerWhat's the difference between Wireless Broadband and other types like DSL?
There are technical differences of course but from the users point of view, the main difference is that wireless broadband is not transmitted over a 'wire' or cable, but via radio waves, which means it transmits through the air, and can reach places and provide broadband access to areas where cable/DSL broadband isn't available yet. It's also reliable and cheaper than other alternatives like satellite broadband.

The downside is that to receive it your house/office does need to be in 'line of sight' of one of our transmitting stations - but don't worry, more and more areas (Galway, Clare, and areas of Roscommon, Tipperary and Mayo) are added all the time to our coverage area and we'll come out to do a free test for you to see if you can pick up the signal!

The other good news is you don't need a phone line for this type of broadband, it's completely independent of it, so that saves you the expense of either getting in a phone line just for broadband (if you don't already have a landline), or signing up to often expensive cable tv/broadband bundles.

Because it's a flat price, you know exactly how much your broadband will cost you each month - no hidden charges! We offer a very great speed/pricing package that compares very well with 'standard' cable or DSL broadband
