Fibre Broadband Installation in Ireland
Fibre broadband installation in Ireland is carried out through the national fibre wholesalers, National Broadband Ireland (NBI) and OpenEir. Once you place your order with Lightnet, we organise the request with the relevant network provider, who then arranges for an authorised installer, either KN/Circet, to complete the fibre connection at your property. Because fibre installation depends on the network infrastructure, access route and property setup, some installs may require more than one visit.

Check your coverage with Lightnet to check fibre availability. We will then call you and you can place your order if Fibre is available at your location.

We Arrange Your Appointment With Provider
We request your installation appointment through the relevant fibre network provider, either NBI or OpenEir.

Fibre Installation By Authorised Installer
An authorised KN/Circet installer brings the fibre cable into your property, either underground or overhead depending on your specific setup.

The National Broadband Ireland (NBI) is the wholesale company commited to ensure that every home, farm and business in Ireland – regardless of how remote or rural – has access to high-speed broadband. Lightnet broadband has partnered with National Broadband Ireland to bring Ireland’s fastest broadband to more homes than ever before.
As part of the National Broadband plan 544,000 homes and businesses will be enabled with Fibre speeds up to 5000mbps over the course of the next few years.

Using the online Eircode Finder tool here and search by address. If there is no red dot over the location, it means no Eircode has been assigned because either no or insufficient address information has been received.
To be added to Geo Directory (therefore receive an eircode), the End User should contact An Post Head Office on eircode@anpost.ie with the following information:
- Local reference eircode (optional but will assist in the process)
- Geo Coordinates for the required premises (The coordinates can be found using the following link google.com/maps. When the location is found on the map, right click on the location and select ‘What’s here’ and the coordinates will appear at the bottom of the page)
When the above information is sent to An Post, they will set about adding the address to Geo Directory and assigning an eircode. NBI will then receive this update in the subsequent Geo Directory before carrying out a NBI Geo Directory update.
The NBI network is being delivered over the very latest fibre broadband technology, meaning every line is future proofed to deliver high speeds directly into your home or business. Once your area has been connected to the NBI network, Lightnet will be able to offer you a choice of 500 Fibre Broadband (500 Mbps) and Gigabit 1000 Fibre Broadband (1,000 Mbps).
NBI provide the infrastructure to get connected, but they are not broadband service providers. You will need to find a service provider who is an (like Lightnet Broadband) who will provide the service and connect you. NBI only work with approved retailers. We are fully approved providers of NBI Fibre Broadband.
